SAMUEL JOSEPH ENTERTAINMENT AND MEDIA GROUP
is a London-based internationally focused entertainment company founded in 2008 by producer and artist manager Samuel Joseph and quickly became one of the leading touring and management operations in the UK. SJEMG focuses core business on live entertainment production, PR and artist management in the music and theatre sectors.

Launching in London in 2008 with productions at London’s Pizza on the Park Samuel Joseph went on to present many artists at that famous venue, including Steve Ross (in association with Duncan Knowles), Claire Martin and Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Jessie Buckley (BBC1s I’D DO ANYTHING, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC), Daniel Boys (ANY DREAM WILL DO, AVENUE Q) and Louise Dearman (WICKED).

He provided publicity for US stars including Maureen McGovern, KT Sullivan, Steve Ross and Maude Maggart as well as UK performers Sian Phillips, John Standing and Alison Jiear as part of the AMERICAN SONGBOOK IN LONDON season at Pizza on the Park. He also publicised the London performances of multi-award winning composer Marvin Hamlisch which featured West End star Maria Friedman.

In 2010 Samuel Joseph began an ongoing curating partnership with King’s Place, a stunning 450 seat concert venue in Kings Cross producing an inaugural festival of Jazz and Voice. Over this three day event critically acclaimed performances were delivered by Norma Winstone and Glauco Venier, Lea Delaria and Janette Mason and Claire Martin and Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. This festival was followed up in September with a celebration of solo jazz piano, also at Kings Place, featuring John Taylor, Zoe Rahman and Gwilym Simcock. Future presentations featured Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll, Jessie Buckley and Janette Mason.

September 2011 saw a third Kings Place festival celebrating ground breaking songwriters and featured Barb Jungr, Ian Shaw and the return of Claire Martin and Richard Rodney Bennett. SJEMG also programmed a considerable portion of the Kings Place annual festival with performances in several venues within the complex.

In March 2010, Samuel Joseph commenced his ongoing relationship with Leicester Square Theatre, presenting guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel in a sold out concert. He also established a similar relationship with historic Wilton’s Music Hall in London’s East End, co-producing a gala launch event featuring Jessie Buckley, Sian Phillips, Marc Almond and David McAlmont and has contributed to the programming of Cameron Mackintosh’s LIVE AT THE DELFONT cabaret series at West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre. He also co-produced the Steven Sondheim Society/Mercury Musical Development Performer Of The Year Awards at the Queen’s Theatre in 2010, 2011 and is set repeat this role in 2012.

2010 saw an integral role in the relaunch of The Pheasantry, an historic 75 seat venue in Chelsea which has fast become established as the new London home of contemporary cabaret and intimate concert performances. Since it relaunch Samuel Joseph has presented a diverse season under the moniker LIVE AT THE PHEASANTRY featuring the highest echelon of cabaret entertainers including Harry the Piano, Simon Green, Caroline Nin, Barb Jungr, Mari Wilson, Joe Stilgoe, Gary Williams and Kelly Price (www.pizzaexpresslive.com) and created a London base for New York stars such as Mark Nadler, Daryl Sherman and Steve Ross. In 2011 he presented Broadway composer John Bucchino in his London cabaret debut.

Samuel Joseph is also involved with the development of theatre piece about the life of legendary British entertainer Leslie ‘Hutch‘ Hutchinson, in partnership with Charlotte Breese, who wrote the definitive biography of this major figure in entertainment history.

In 2010 SJEMG launched a touring operation for its rich and varied client list, partnering with the finest venues in the UK to produce extensive tours for Buddy Greco, Barb Jungr, 4 Poofs and a Piano, Patricia Routledge, Liane Carroll, Mari Wilson, Claire Martin and Richard Rodney Bennett among others. SJEMG also presented vocal star Jessie Buckley in an acclaimed concert with the RTE NSO at the Royal National Concert Hall, Dublin.

SJEMG is currently working on a wide range of UK and international projects. 2012 will include a continuing relationship with The Pheasantry and an expansion of SJEMG’s client list and touring operation.
